Our Company Vision

Our Vision

In my time in this field of Orthotics and Prosthetics, I have seen vast changes.  Prostheses were made of wood and lamination with rubber feet.  Orthoses were hammered together, delicately bent pieces of metal, covered in handworked leather.  Each device was finely crafted and all involved were proud of their workmanship.  Now, terms like computer aided design, vacuum-formed total contact, ultra-lightweight, and microprocessor controlled are used to define the quality of a device, with the automatic expectation of craftsmanship.  The devices of the past worked because of expertise and craft, and with the technological advancements of the last 25 years, our current devices should be that much superior.

The struggle today is spent obtaining the best care for a patient within the tightening confines of regulation, fee schedules, and a consensus of physicians, therapists, family members and clients expectations for a rehabilitative device.  Too often in today’s health care world, the client loses their status to the pressures of a business’ bottom line.

We purchased Northern Orthotics and Prosthetics to provide superb devices, regardless of payer, that instill the old fashioned awe of craftsmanship, and enhance the lives of our patients.  We work hard to create and maintain relationships with health professionals to provide the greatest benefit to a mutual patient, and improve the quality of the care those health professionals' practices.

In this current restrictive health care universe, we have become the interpreter for our clients.  We undertake education of our client and their family as a high priority.  Willingly, we help people understand what is happening to them, how a device may help, and their options, as the center of their own health care universe.  Everybody who walks through our door is in some degree of need and relying on us to help them.  Our approach is one at a time, individualized care to achieve superior results in our eyes as well as the client’s.

Northern Orthotics and Prosthetics values the time, skills, and expertise of our staff.  We are committed to providing fair and living wages, reasonable structured work schedules, with an emphasis on promoting a health family life.  We do not expect our staff to do a job that they are not trained for.  Instead, we promote continuing education, and a team approach to problem solving and professional improvement.  We expect members of our team to share suggestions for improving Northern O&P, taking responsibility and initiative when it is the right thing to do.  Our goal is to provide careers which not only provide for our employee’s families, but allow them an opportunity to make a difference in the world around them, with caring expertise, one client at a time.
